PENNANT WINNING SEALS OF PACIFIC COAST LEAGUE
The San Francisco Seals have been praised for the consistency of their play in winning the pennant in the Pacific Coast League this year. From the sixth week on in the long season they were never headed. But there was a time when the Seals wobbled badly and they seemed in danger of collapse. That was when their spirits were shot by the illness and death of their beloved manager,Jack Miller. It was predicted they would go to pieces. Then Bert Ellison,Who took over the reins, called his men together and asked them to do this thing in memory of Miller-Go out and win another Flag. The boys buckled to it,and from then on it was nothing but dust in the eyes of their rivals in the race.
